The Impact of Digital Video
At the heart of every digital camera, be it an extremely high resolution satellite camera, or a grainy webcam is an array of photosensitive sensors that take light measurements and transmit this data to a computer (perhaps mounted in the camera itself), which in turn converts the data into something the user could interpret- a digital picture or a digital video. The applications for this lossless system are immense, from commercial and scientific endeavors to day to day life. The lost cost of making digital video compared to analog has proven also to be a great factor in its dominance.
